Our Past
Established in 1992, The LNA was recognized in 1993 by Governor Edwin Edwards, and again in 1996 by Governor Murphy J. "Mike" Foster as the "Official organization for commissioned notaries in the state."
Our Mission
The Louisiana Notary Association is a Non-Profit, Tax Exempt 501(c)(3) Educational Organization, organized for the public benefit exclusively for educational and historical purposes "to provide information and educational opportunities regarding the Public Office of the Commissioned Louisiana Civil Law Notary and the official duties of that public official, and to preserve the traditions and cultural heritage afforded by the unique and superior principles of law as set forth in the Louisiana Civil Code."

The LNA provides opportunities for the professional and educational development of all commissioned notaries in the State. As such, the LNA is a recognized mark of professionalism.
Our Code of Ethics
In 2007, a Code of Ethics was adopted by the Louisiana Notary Association membership as a guideline for all notaries. Although the LNA has not instituted penalties for failure to abide by the code, it believes in promoting the highest level of professionalism and ethics for Louisiana notaries.
